Is it fair to assume by your question you are considering entry into the field of financial planning and are interested in understanding the body of knowledge required of a financial planner? If so, I recommend that you go to the website of The College of Financial Planning.

The website has the basic job skills as well as career info for professional financial planners.

My advice is you should try this book “Investment Valuation: Tools and Techniques for Determining the Value of Any Asset, Second Edition” written by Aswath Damodaran. This is the book suggested by my boss and my CFA lecturer. It is very detailed in every concept, easy to use even you are new to finance. Good luck!
